Democracy throws a lame party

Massachusetts had a pretty bruising gubernatorial campaign between Republican Lt. Gov. Kerry Healey and out-of-nowhere Democrat lawyer Deval Patrick. As expected, Patrick swamped Healey yesterday, and will become the first black governor in state history.
But forget all that for a moment. What's important here is that I was at Healey's party-turned-funeral, covering all its warts for Boston's Weekly Dig.

Hey, Feifer and friends-- we just updated the post with some hot photos. (That one above? Awesome.) Thanks--and while you're on weeklydig.com, check out the other three post-election party roundups...

The Dems are back, Rummy is gone and now it is time to do some good for this country. Bush told us to be afraid. I'm not afraid; I'm hopeful for America again. Bye bye Repulicans.

An anecdote I ran here this week....On Monday, when Kerry Healey and Reed Hillman made their stop at Junior’s on Shrewsbury St, some Worcester-based supporters were asked where the local celebration was planned, should the ticket win. “We’re going to Boston,” came the reply. OK, but where’s the gathering for local supporters? “We’re going to Boston.” Never mind.
