I'm with you on paper bags needing handles. The grocery store in my area (Rockford, IL) has been selling those almost-canvas (I swear they still feel plastic-y) bags, and I have a few cloth bags of my own, but anytime I've gone, I've had to ask for plastic with a heavy heart. I'm on a third floor apartment, and me + bags + stairs = trouble. Also, paper isn't that stable, how am I supposed to carry those bags with all sorts of goods shifting around?

Again, I'm *so* with you on this.
